Summary: AEC-Q1 automotive qualified ideal diode with surge blocking capabilities.

LM74930-Q1 controller Texas Instruments

The Texas Instruments LM74930-Q1 ideal diode controller is an AEC-Q1 automotive qualified ideal diode with surge blocking capabilities. This diode controller drives back-to-back external n-channel mosfets, emulating an ideal diode rectifier and power path ON and OFF control with overcurrent and OVP. The LM74930-Q1 diode controller withstands and protects loads with negative supply voltages as low as -65V. The integrated high-side gate control (HGATE) drives the first MOSFET in the power path, allowing HGATE to be used to control load disconnection (ON and OFF control). DGATE drives a second MOSFET that replaces the Schottky diode for input reverse polarity protection and output voltage maintenance by blocking reverse current flow from output to input. The LM74930-Q1 diode controller includes an integrated current-sense amplifier that provides adjustable overcurrent and short-circuit protection with circuit breaker functionality. This ideal diode controller also features adjustable overvoltage and undervoltage protection to protect against power supply transients.

The LM74930-Q1 ideal diode controller is available in a space-saving 24-pin VQFN package. Typical applications include 12V/24V automotive reverse battery protection, industrial transportation, and redundant power supply ORing.
