Analog Devices' EVAL-LT8418-BZ evaluation board features the LT8418 driving two 100V enhancement-mode gallium nitride (eGaN) FETs in a half-bridge configuration. This circuit is optimized as a buck converter but can be used as a boost converter or other converter topology consisting of a half-bridge. The evaluation circuit delivers up to 10A with good thermal management. Depending on the configuration, one or two external PWM signals are required to drive the board. In a single-input setup, a dead-time circuit on the board generates a complement signal and sets the dead-time. In a dual-input setup, the dead-band circuit is bypassed. The Analog Devices Inc. LT8418 driver features powerful 0.2 ohm pull-down and 0.6 ohm pull-up drivers driving two 100V GaN FETs. It also incorporates a smart integrated boot switch that generates a balanced boot voltage from V(CC) with minimal voltage drop. The LT8418 provides a split-gate driver to adjust the on and off slew rates of GaN FETs to suppress ringing and optimize EMI performance.
