Summary: Includes CAN/LIN transceivers, as well as system and safety functions for emerging automotive ECUs.

FS23 NXP Semiconductor

NXP Semiconductors FS23 Safety System Base (SBC) pmics are pin-for-pin/software compatible and include CAN/LIN transceivers, as well as many system and safety functions for emerging automotive electronic control units (ECUs). The FS23 SBC is scalable from a linear regulator version to a DC-DC regulator version and from QM to ASIL b. These devices provide a high level of integration to optimize bill of materials (BOM) costs for the body and comfort markets.

The highly flexible pmic is suitable for S32K processor-based applications and multi-vendor processors. Multiple device versions are available, providing output voltage settings, operating frequency, power-up sequence and input/output configurations to address a variety of applications.

characteristic

  • Power management

    • HVBUCK: Synchronous buck converter with integrated field effect transistor. Normal mode output voltage and LPON mode output voltage (3.3V or 5.5V) can be configured. The output DC current is 400mA in normal mode and 100mA in low-power ON mode.

    • HVLDO1: High voltage LDO for MCU power supply instead of HVBUCK, with selectable output voltage (3.3V or 5.5V), up to 100mA DC current capability with internal PMOS and external PNP

    • HVLDO2: High-voltage LDO regulator for system loads with optional external protection of off-board sensors, selectable output voltage (3.3V or 5.0V), and up to 100mA DC current capability

    • HVLDO3: High voltage LDO regulator for CAN FD block power or other selectable output voltages (3.3V or 5.0V) and up to 150mA current

  • System functions

    • 1x CAN FD supports communication up to 2Mbps and complies with ISO 11898-2:2016 and SAE J2284 standards

    • Up to 4 low-voltage I/Os with wake-up capability

    • 4 configurable high-side drivers with 150mA drive capability to provide LEDs or enable external devices (INH), and loop detection capabilities

    • Multiple wake-up sources: WAKE pin, HVIO pin, LVIO pin, CAN FD, LIN or dedicated SPI/I(2)C command

    • Device control via 32-bit SPI interface or via I(2)C interface with CRC

    • Integrated long-term timer (LDT) for system shutdown and wake-up control, programmable for up to 194 days

    • 16-channel analog multiplexer (AMUX) for system monitoring (temperature, battery voltage and internal voltage)

  • operating mode

    • Normal mode, all power management and functional safety features are available

    • Stop Mode: Low Power Off Mode (LPOFF) with multiple wake-up sources

    • Standby mode: low-power ON mode, HVBUCK or HVLDO1 activity and multiple wake-up sources (lon)
