TCS3530 ambient light sensor Osram

Osram TCS3530 ambient light sensor has flicker detection (up to 7kHz) function and has true color XYZ ambient light detection function. The TCS3530 light sensor uses a small footprint 8-pin optical module with dimensions of 2.50mm x 1.80mm x 1.50mm (LxWxH). Fully embedded optical modules provide an integrated aperture and diffuser. This unparalleled scale of integration, including photodiodes, apertures/diffusers, and the precise distances between these critical optical elements allows for accurate pre-calibration during final optic testing.

The ambient light detection feature provides eight concurrent ambient light sensing channels with independent gain configurations. Channels can be optionally connected to 27x photodiodes covered with UV/IR blocking filters. The built-in sequencer enables automated measurements without the need to reprogram the device after each measurement cycle. The architecture accurately measures ambient light to manage display appearance and calculates illuminance, colorimetric and correlated color temperature (CCT).

The OSRAM TCS3530 light sensor integrates direct detection of ambient light flicker up to 7kHz. This extended sampling range makes it possible to
detect flicker from conventional mains powered 50Hz/60Hz AC light sources or modern PDM controlled LED lighting systems. Flicker detection is performed in parallel with ambient light sensing, providing independent gain configuration. The flicker detection engine collects and buffers flicker frequency calculation data outside the host CPU.
