The Texas Instruments THVD1454 Half-Duplex RS-485 Transceiver is a flexible half-duplex RS-485 transceiver suitable for industrial applications. The device features on-chip, 120-ohm termination resistors and driver output slew rate control. Both functions are controlled by pins. This feature allows the device to be used at any node location (end node or intermediate node) in any network, whether slow or fast. End equipment designers can now design universal printed circuit boards (PCBs) and use software to configure the PCB to meet various application needs. This feature saves customers design and qualification time.

The bus pins are not affected by high-level IEC contact discharge ESD events. This feature eliminates the need for additional system-level protection components. The device is powered from a single 3V to 5.5V. Low input leakage and a wide common-mode voltage range on the bus pins make the device suitable for multipoint applications running long cables. The Texas Instruments THVD1454 is available in a space-saving, thermally efficient 10-VSON package (3mm x 3mm). The device is characterized over ambient temperatures from -40°C to 125°C.
